Orchid Shipping, Handles Components of Edible Oil Refining

Orchid Shipping handled yet another complex ODC parcel comprising of five components of an Edible Oil Refining ex Nhava Sheva, India to Alexandria, Egypt.

The Project team explored several workarounds, finally zeroing in to the BB containerized mode via Antwerp with a very competitive transit time of 55 days until the final destination in Alexandria. The port of Antwerp was chosen as the transhipment considering the convenience of the availability of conventional BB options there onto the final port in Egypt. Coupled with the fact that have a highly reliable overseas partner to oversee the operation there.

Heavy Monsoons in India posed considerable ground challenges while maneuvering these heavy lifts from the factory on specialized vehicles over 120 kms to Nhava Sheva port. Most importantly, the much critical tandem loading /lashing and its associated risk was effectively mitigated through accurate CAD lifting / lashing drawing by Orchid Shipping’s in-house engineers, thereby adhering to the safety compliance at all stages of the handling of the oversized cargo right from the start to the finish.
