Ashok Leyland is scrutinizing the possibility of launching a hybrid version of its Optare buses in India. The company holds a 75 per cent stake in UK-bus maker Optare. The company already has electric vehicles under the Optare portfolio. Ashok Leyland, in accordance with an order worth $7.6 million, has supplied 100 buses to Ghana. These vehicles were inducted into the fleet of Metro Mass Transit. Ashok Leyland has become the first commercial vehicle manufacturer to introduce a mechanical inline fuel injection with a Euro 3 engine and electronic destination board in Ghana.
